Getting Hitched Las Vegas Style
Las Vegas is famous for many things. Casinos, entertainment, adult entertainment and, of course, the spur of the moment marriage are all synonymous with Las Vegas. Why has it become so popular to get married here? Aside from the fact it has been widely popularised by film, TV and celebrity marriages, getting married in Las Vegas in extremely easy.
It must be pointed out however, even though getting married in Las Vegas is quite easy, there are still a number of legal requirements to consider. Age, previous marriages, couples from foreign countries – these are just a few of the legal hurdles to consider. However, despite these legal requirements, the majority of those who decide to walk down the aisle in Vegas have little trouble meeting them.
Another consideration, particularly if this really is a complete spur of the moment decision is witnesses. If you have arrived in town with your loved one, it’s quite possible that you won’t have any friends of family in the city. Don’t worry if this does happen to you, most Vegas chapels have a stand by witness or two as long as you don’t mind them being dressed as Elvis.
If you do decide to tie the knot in Las Vegas, consider the holidays. For example, getting married on Valentines’ Day in Vegas is hugely popular and perhaps even romantic. Unfortunately, you’re not the only one thinking this so expect to find the Las Vegas hotels crowded and long queues in the famous ‘convenience chapels’.
Another important consideration is what you will wear. Although the wedding will naturally be spur of the moment, you may decide that you need a spur-of-the-moment wedding dress to match. Finding such a dress can be difficult, especially on just a few hours notice.
Thankfully, Las Vegas is more than aware of this problem and there are several shops throughout the city which offer dresses to hire. Sure, it probably won’t be the dress of your dreams but at least you won’t be picking up a bill of several thousand pounds at the end.
If getting married on a whim in Las Vegas isn’t enough of a rush for you, there are a number of even less traditional options to choose from. Some of the most popular of these include drive through weddings, the opportunity to have Elvis escort you down the aisle, a wedding in a pirate ship, gondola or helicopter or – if you’re so inclined – the option to drive into the chapel on a Harley Davidson.
Whatever you decide on, you’ll be sure to have a truly memorable experience getting married Las Vegas style.

What to Ask about When Finalizing Your Vegas Hotel Booking
When you finally get to take that dream vacation to fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada, you should take time to review all the possible online discount sites before finalizing your Vegas hotel reservation. Before the current recession, Las Vegas hotels boasted nearly a 90% occupancy rate year-round, with as many as an estimated 40 million visitors going there in 2008. However, the current recession has taken its toll, and some incredible Vegas hotel deals have become available. And as long as your visit doesn’t coincide with the many conventions that are planned there annually, Vegas hotel booking should be easy. Before choosing, contact the reservation desk at several hotels. Let them know that you are planning to do your Vegas hotel booking there, and ask about discounts, as well as the amenities available. Are there several types of cuisine available on-site, convenient to the casino? Do they offer rooms with jacuzzis, pet-friendly areas, and entertainment for children and adolescents? Will they provide courtesy transportation to and from McCarran Airport, or to local golf courses, restaurants, and other attractions? Is free parking available? Most of the better hotels will have a staff person whose only function is to field and answer such inquiries, with the goal of securing your Vegas hotel booking before your call is ended. Do not commit to making a hotel reservation – and certainly not a deposit! – until you have made several such inquiries, and are satisfied that a given hotel meets both your needs and your budget.
