Las Vegas Hotels for family with 12 and 15 year old girls.?
We are going to stop in Las vegas for a couple of nights after visiting California and I’m interested in 3 different hotels and wondering which one is best for my girls ages 12 and 15. The Excalibur, New York New York or The Paris. The Excalibur sounds more “kid friendly” but I like the looks of the Paris. Any advice on the restaurants at each hotel, rooms, pools and activities? Thanks!!

Of those 3, I will choose the Excalibur simply because there are fun things teenagers can do there. NYNY comes in second. Paris on the other hand is a great hotel but I don’t think it’s a good hotel for kids. Other places to look into is Planet Hollywood and MGM Grand. Also look for discount codes when booking. http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/special.php
I had my teens there for spring break and the microtel inn was awesome! very updated and new(waterpic shower head was heaven), with full breakfast and indoor pool(pets allowed too). about 1 mile south on the strip! So you need a car(find a cheap rental). We had a blast at the circus circus buffet and fundome!
Excalibur…stayed there a few times with my son when he was that age. I need to let you know that walking down the strip is a porn show…seriously. The Excalibur is really close to a few cool hotels as well, MGM, New York NewYork, Mandalay Bay and the Luxor. Those are all just a few steps away and pretty kid friendly to walk to. A few are actually connected by an indoor moving tram.
Hands up for Excalibur it is definitely more kid friendly but generally you cannot go wrong with any of your chosen hotels. I would also consider MGM Grand, its a really nice hotel with a great pool area. I have only stayed at Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. But Excalibur is definitely a great kid-friendly hotel. We took our two daughters last year and they were 2 and 6 at the time. My brother went with us and he was 12 and he loved it. There is a great arcade (Midway) downstairs with fun, affordable carnival games that are easy to win. We ended up walking away with a trash bag full of stuffed animals and pillows. The Tournament of Kings dinner show was their favorite. It is $60 per person but it includes a great dinner of game hen, broccoli, potato wedges, a pastry, and unlimited pepsi. They have 4 pools, one is devoted to adults only. Another one has small waterslides and a small waterfall, the water doesn’t go deeper than 3 or 4 ft I believe in any of the pools, but its like that in most of Vegas. There is a food court that includes Quiznos, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Krispy Kreme, and Starbucks. Restaurants- they have an Italian restaurant that is very affordable, a steak house that is a little more expensive, an average buffet with great prices, Dick’s Last Resort, and Sherwood Forest Cafe which is a 24-hour Denny’s type cafe, I love going there for breakfast.
I don’t know much about NY NY but they do have an arcade and the roller coaster, but it is directly across the street from Excalibur so you can visit those attractions without having to stay there. Excalibur is connected to Luxor by indoor walkway which is connected to Mandalay Bay by what some say is the best shopping mall area in Vegas, Mandalay Place. MGM Grand is also across the street and next door to MGM Grand is the Showcase Mall with M&M World and Coca Cola World. Below them is Gameworks, a huge arcade.
Excalibur also has the best value on the strip. The hotel is not a luxury hotel, but it is really a decent hotel. If you upgrade to the Widescreen room ($10-$20 more per night) you wouldn’t even know you weren’t staying in a luxury hotel. It has beautiful warm decor, a 42″ widescreen TV, and marble countertops in the bathroom. Check the best rates here http://smartervegas.com/hotels/excalibur/promotionalcodes.aspx
If you don’t see a deal you can use, just keep checking it because they update it often, also sign up for email offers from Excalibur.com.
Hope this helps!

Excalibur is a bit too silly for a 15 year old; New York New York is difficult to appreciate if you’re not familiar with 1940s New York City (like from old movies.)
Excalibur is definately more for kids. There is absolutely nothing at Paris for kids. The Rio has a great buffet for inexpensive. Don’t know when you are going but the pools close in the winter and open in March/ April.
