Absolutly not. Only a liberal would suggest that casinos in Las Vegas be closed down because Americans can’t be trusted with their own money!
Casinos attract desperate people even in good times.
No because the Govt. gets tax money from them. If people are stupid enough to gamble their money to hopefully make a large sum they should be homeless. If I saw someone sitting at a blackjack table one day and sitting in the street the next I think I would spit on them to be honest. I would laugh in their face and then pull up in my car and ask if they want a ride when they get close I would speed away.
It is a business just like anything else and the people of Las Vegas rely on the taxes just like any other city so no.
You are kidding right?
No, it is still a free country. At least for the time being. I think the government has plans to change that quickly though.
Ummmm no. This is the problem with America. They want people to hold their hand every step of the way and blame others for their bad decisions. It’s getting really dangerous in America when people begin to think we should “handle” and control every aspect of peoples’ lives for the “collective good”. Sound familiar yet? Killing free speech and free thought results in putting tape over your own mouth.
Because it’s the government’s job to protect people from their own stupidity? No thank you. Keep your government off my freewill.
Vegas is great. And I doubt if they’re closing any time soon.
“Desperate” is the key word here, though. You can’t be desperate and gamble. You’re lucky if you win, even if you’re on top of the world. Losers keep Vegas alive, not the winners. And they’re certainly not gonna close down now.
no, it would be unfair to close casinos just because desperate people might choose to gamble what they can’t afford to, its a problem even without the eco crisis. you can’t just make companies close down their companies because some customers can’t help themselves. people get addicted to things and have to fix it for themselves and with help.
no if the idiots cant control themselves than thats thier own fault just dont go to the casinos its not that hard to just stay home
I believe this problem is self policing ! Vegas has always determined the affordability of risk takers, especially in today’s time of desperation.
Many of the gamblers have shrunk into the woodwork in these trying times. Vegas is suffering more than any modern US city, mainly because it failed to diversify. Harry Reid should be impeached for his invisible roll as Nevada’s representative in Congress.
Think of all the people you would be putting out of work! Don’t stop any legitimate economic activity. Regardless of how you feel about it’s morality.
Las Vegas will probably never close, well, if they don’t get their water woes fixed that is. But that’s another problem they have. How many states have gambling now? They would have to be closed also then, what about the Indian casino’s, and the bingo halls, state lotteries and scratch tickets? Vegas is in a heck of a slump right now with all the foreclosures and job loss’s. But hey, didn’t the mayor Oscar Goodman, who himself was a lawyer for the real mob back in the day, get $$ for his Mob Museum? That will really get the tourists in! Reid gets his desert train, and how long will that take to build, there is a Mountain range to go over, under or through. From the local Vegas paper>>>>>>>
