Fantastic Family Attractions In Las Vegas

Las Vegas is moving beyond its former reputation as an ‘adult Disneyland’ devoted to the gaming industry, with a number of attractions and entertainments springing up to cater specifically for families with children, who are looking to enjoy fun-filled holidays in Nevada’s entertainment capital.

There’s even more good news for those worried about the city’s expensive reputation, as many of these entertainments are free of charge.

To enjoy a stunning view of the illuminated city, take your children for a free ride to the top of stratosphere Las Vegas, the tallest free-standing observation tower in the USA that also houses permanent shows, casinos and restaurants for those brave enough to take the ascent.

Las Vegas isn’t all about the glitz, however, and visitors can find many attractions devoted to the natural world when exploring off the beaten track. The Conservatory & Botanical Gardens at Bellagio is a notable example, a resplendent garden of towering plants and delicate structures created by a dedicated team of 100 horticulturalists to offer a natural respite from the city’s skyscrapers and neon lights.

The area in front of the Bellagio also plays host to a water and music show every night, dazzling onlookers with spectacular aquatic displays. Another top night time attraction is the Mirage volcano, which erupts each night to illuminate the Las Vegas Strip.

The city is planning to display even more natural wonders in the near future, with Australia Zoo being in talks to open a park in the city. Originally planned by late naturalist Steve Irwin, this zoo will feature exotic creatures from around the world as well as interactive exhibitions, where children can control waterfalls and other natural features.

This will add to the city’s existing animal attractions that are already a hit with families, such as the lion habitat at MGM Grand, where visitors can watch lions and lionesses in a realistic habitat. For a more extravagant look at big cats in action, the Mirage houses Siegfried & Roy’s white tigers in opulent surroundings, though visitors won’t have to pay anything for the privilege of taking a peek.

You can even find plenty of family-friendly entertainment within your hotels in Las Vegas, as the city’s top establishments aim to provide the ultimate visitor experience. Many of Las Vegas’ hotels are tied to theme parks, while others even house circus acts performing daily to entertain visitors of all ages.

Vegas Tourist Attractions: Things to See and Do in Las Vegas

The city of Las Vegas is instantly recognisable; its skyline dominated by neon-signs displaying the names of any number of hotels and casinos sited along the famous strip. Many would believe that it is here that Las Vegas tourism is centred, but in reality the city offers tourists much more than casinos.

Of course, casinos in Las Vegas arenâ??t like casinos anywhere else in the world and a visit to a Las Vegas casino can become an all-day and even all-night venture. Not only can visitors wager on any number of casino games from roulette to blackjack, or play on the slot-machines, there is also the opportunity to take time out from the frenetic gambling on show to indulge in fine dining, or take in a live performance from comedians, musicians and other performers â?? all under the same roof! Whatâ??s more, many casinos are actually based in hotels, so when it all gets too much there is an easy escape.

Away from the hustle and bustle, the glitz-and-glam of the casino, tourists can take also take in some of the other sights and activities that Las Vegas has on offer. Wonder at the Bellagio Fountain â?? one of the most popular free attractions in the city and the front for the cityâ??s Bellagio Hotel. The fountain is located in a large eight-acre eight, and comprises more than 1000 water nozzles co-ordinated with 4000 lights and spanning a total length in excess of 1000 metres. Watch in awe as the movements of the water respond to music, dancing in time with musical choices spanning several genres and popular tunes.

See also the spectacular erupting Mirage volcano, which is situated at the famous Mirage Las Vegas hotel and â??eruptsâ?? throughout the night. Combining music with pyrotechnic displays, the musical score which accompanies the eruptions was part-composed by legendary musician, Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead.

Alternatively, visit Fremont Street for a glittering experience which blends the traditional idea of Las Vegas with high tech displays and live entertainment that can rival the famous strip itself! The Viva Vision canopy and light show, for example, is the largest and most well known attraction in the Fremont Street Experience as it is known, and places the viewer in a spectacular array of lights which towers some 90 feet above ground and covers the length of five football fields. With more than 12million LED modules and an over half-a-million watt sound system, tourists and locals alike canâ??t fail to be mesmerised by the lights and sound show that will pound the senses.

Although situated in neighbouring Arizona, no trip to Las Vegas would be complete without a trip to the Grand Canyon, and tourists can take advantage of numerous tour opportunities to this wondrous site. Fly over the Grand Canyon in an aeroplane or helicopter and take in stunning aerial views of Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and the Grand Canyon itself. Alternatively, take a coach tour and hike around the many trails that wend their way through the canyon and along the Colorado River.

As a premier tourist attraction, the city Las Vegas is always evolving and introducing new attractions so it is little wonder that tourists return to the city year-on-year to experience something new and so flights to Las Vegas are always highly popular throughout the year. With attractions such as these â?? both man-made and natural, the allure of Las Vegas can only continue to grow.
