I would suggest the restaurant in the Ellis Island Casino located on Koval Lane, behind Bally’s. I ate very well and didn’t pay much, steak too. It’s next to the super 8.
I’ve always liked The Great Moments room at the Las Vegas Club downtown. the prime rib is great!
There is a Outback Steakhouse located directly across the street from The Mirage. They have great views of the strip.
Some nice food courts I’ve been to are located at Luxor (when you enter the main entrance go to the left and take the escalator up, they also have a fun Mexican restaurant with great margaritas up there) and MGM Grand (once you walk past the expensive restaurants the entrance will be on your right-hand side).
The most inexpensive buffet I have been to that I continue to frequent is also located at Luxor (follow the signs through the casino and take the escalators down). They have a great assortment, it is laid perfectly, and it is clean.
You will find in Vegas that there are a lot of expensive restaurants because it is the land of money but there are some mid-ranged gems that you can enjoy.
The hotel buffets are now pretty expensive so if you want to order and eat less try one of the Denny’s (one near the Casino Royal The other across from the Monte Carlo) for meals. There are also McDonalds and Burger King (in O’Sheas) on the Stip near Harrahs. You can get breakfast and dinner buffets a few dollars less at the Imperial Palace and at the Gold Coast. There is a food court in the Monte Carlo, in NY, NY, and in the Palms Hotel (across the street from the RIO.
THere are two Outback Steak houses, one in the Casino Royale and another across from the Rio. One of my favorite restaurants there is Tony Roma; best ribs you will have anywhere. There is one on Sahara Blvd, another in the Stardust hotel and a third downtown on Freemont Street. The buffets onn Freemont St are also less expensive than on the Strip. If you drive to Freemont St there is a parking garage you can park in for free and just get your ticket stamped in a casino restaurant.
The Rio has a real expensive seafood resstaurant, stay away from it it over $30 a person. But the Flamingo had a nice seafood buffet for about $16.
When you get there you will probably have in your hotel room a free guide to the city called either “What’s ON” or “Las Vegas Today”. These are helpful guises as they have a map of the city with the hotels marked, plus useful coupons. Some coupons will give you a free souviner from certain hotels; you just have to take the coupon to the hotel. The guides will list restaurants and hotel buffets by price. If there is not one in your room, they are generally in hotel lobbies, at auto reservation desks and all over.
